submergence

“Watching people move underwater is completely mesmerising. We are able to witness a grace , fluidity and sense of timelessness that is not apparent when watching others swim on the surface.”                                                                                                                                      Sophie Lewis

Understanding how to submerge confidently, whether to swim, play or explore, is essential if we wish to feel completely at home in the water.

Unfortunately, however, learning to do so is commonly neglected, as many people associate submerging, or sinking beneath the surface, with being out of control. When viewed in this way, the apprehension of sinking usually reinforces a greater desire to stay afloat and, when experienced, often results in a sense of panic. And the consequence of both; attempting to keep ‘safely’ afloat and panicking, significantly negate our buoyancy and trust in the water’s support.

When we learn how to sink, or submerge, freely, with ease and enjoyment, we are able to revolutionise our experience and sense of freedom within the water. It enables us to take greater pleasure in all aspects of being immersed and establishes a secure foundation of trust and confidence. And, on a deeper level, submergence awakens within us new levels of consciousness, connectivity and inner-peace that are rare to experience elsewhere.
