During 2002-03 Sophie was invited to work as Water Movement Artist on choreographer Morag Wightman’s research project, Altered Gravity Pool. The project, commissioned by the Arts Council and Chisenhale Dance Space, was a development of Morag’s previous work Gravity – A Love Story, which explored the effects of zero gravity on body, movement and consciousness. Working with a group of dancers, a sound engineer and video artist, Sophie explored the comparative effects of being submerged in the semi-weightlessness of the water. The outcome of the research period consisted of a dance performance and later a video installation in celebration of Chisenhale’s 21st Anniversary.
